Resistance: The View
from Pakistan
B.K. Bangash, Arif Mahmood and Ayesha Vellani
PAKISTAN
Three
Pakistani photographers offer a personal
take on the concept of resistance.
B.K.
Bangash’s career with Associated Press
has led him to trouble spots all over the
region. In Afghanistan and in the border
regions between Afghanistan and Pakistan,
Bangash documents the way the war affects
the life of non-combatants.
Religious
ritual has always intrigued Arif Mahmood,
and his photos for this exhibition take
a little known ritual practiced by a sect
in Pakistan. Arif explores the nuances of
both ordinary life and extraordinary events.
Ayesha
Vellani documents a traditional life style
in a fast changing environment. In the tenaciousness
of the nomads she photographs, Ayesha highlights
the will to survive against all odds.
