World of little
heroes

NETHERLANDS
“World
of little heroes” is a Dutch project
by the internationally working photographer
Michel Szulc-Krzyzanowski who is now based
in Spain. It is his third project in a continuing
series. The first one was “World of
Love” where he documented how four
families, in Bolivia, Senegal, Bangladesh
and the Netherlands loved and cared for
one another. The second project was “World
of Energy” where he went to twenty
different locations around the world photographing
how twenty families were producing a particular
kind of energy and consuming it. The third
project, “World of Little Heroes”,
is about Samantha and Hasina, two 9 year
olds who are physically disabled. Samantha
lives in Canada and Hasina lives in Bangladesh.
Identical situations and events in the lives
of Samantha and Hasina are presented in
one image consisting of two pictures showing
the similarities and differences in their
lives.
“World
of little heroes” creates awareness
not only about circumstances of living for
a disabled girl but also talks about the
quality of their lives as a result of the
social environment.
Michel
Szulc-Krzyzanowski wishes to express his
gratitude to Hasina and Samantha and their
families, Ibadad van Rijckevorsel, Rauf,
Shahidul Alam, Robert Delpire, Mia + Terry
Pidsadny, Pilar Iniesta, Daniel Gluckmann,
Caroline Bouchard, Baudoin Lebon, Sunny
and Monique de Groot of the Embassy of the
Netherlands.
